Face authentication is something that is undertaken after facial recognition by UIDAI or other governmental authorities for security purposes. Steps to Download E-Aadhaar with Face Auth

Step 1: Visit the UIDAI website
Downloading E-Aadhaar requires you to visit the UIDAI website using the link: https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/faadhaar/. This will redirect you to a new page wherein you will get different options to choose from within for downloading Aadhaar online.
Step 2: Choose UID/VID/EID
This new page contains different options to download Aadhaar using Virtual ID, Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID. Choose any of the options based on your convenience. You can get Aadhaar number mentioned on Aadhaar card or in case you lost this card, use your acknowledgment slip to get Enrolment ID. If you do not have the virtual ID, you can generate it by contacting the Aadhaar toll-free helpline number 1947 through SMS.
Step 3: Choose regular or masked Aadhaar
After filling any of these IDs, a box presents to ask whether you want a masked Aadhaar. If you want regular Aadhaar, ignore the box; but select this option if you want to generate a masked Aadhaar that offers a safer Aadhaar card. Masked Aadhaar involves partial concealing of Aadhaar number in Aadhaar card for more security and safety purposes.
Step 4: Select Face Auth icon
Fill the security code as shown on the screen in the designated field “CAPTCHA Verification”. CAPTCHA indicates a Completely Automated Public Turing Test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, a security check for verifying human users only. UIDAI has infused this verification to ensure that only humans can use this. Click on the icon “Face Auth” that lies below the CAPTCHA verification field.
Step 5: Capture your face
Clicking the icon will take you to the next step of capturing your face.

As soon as the camera initiates, bring your face near to the camera to the extent that it can capture your complete face. Make sure that you stay not too close and too far from the camera otherwise the camera would not be able to capture correct facial photographs for authentication. Also, keep your face steady for a few moments so that the camera can take perfect capture.
Step 6: Fill the survey
The system will redirect you to a new page after the camera captures the correct facial picture and authenticates it. The new page will have a short survey that you require filling for further proceedings. This survey will have two small questions.
Step 7: Download the Aadhaar
After this, you will two options namely “Verify and Download” and “Cancel”. Please click on “Verify and Download” that will prepare online Aadhaar for downloading. Once the downloading started, you cannot revoke it and you will receive a password-protected PDF file.
We have already mentioned above that the electronic copy of Aadhaar is password-protected which indicates entering a password to open the downloaded file. This password is comprised of 8 digits (initial 4 digits of registered first name and last 4 digits of birth year). - Authentication involves face contours and iris scanning. Hence, you should avoid makeup or lens while sitting in front of the camera for a better quality facial picture that can leave no room for the authentication failure.
- UIDAI may refuse the Aadhaar download request using face recognition if they get outcomes from facial authentication is not clear.
